Twitter is sweeping the nation as an easy way to communicate between two individuals or a group of people. It is hard NOT to find success stories of companies using Twitter to increase leads and sales in a monumental way. For those of us getting started in this wonderful world of 140 characters and quick thoughts… there is something important to remember.
Be responsive.
It is important to remember to put yourself in the place of people you are communicating with on a daily basis. If you were to ask a question, say hello, or re-tweet a post wouldn’t you want to be thanked or acknowledged in some way? Yes, of course. We all would and do.
Being responsive to individuals on Twitter is an important aspect to success when using the tool. This is not the only thing to keep in mind but it is one of the more important tips. Think of it as being socially responsible. If you were at a networking event or a business meeting would you ignore someone if they were to speak to you or share a story?
Absolutely not. The same rules apply to the online environment.
